Founded On August 1999 as a Semi-autonomous Government Development Research Institute, EDRI's research activities mainly focus on:

• Macroeconomics,
• Agriculture and Rural Development,
• Industrial Growth ,
• International Economics, and
• Human Resources

The primary mission of EDRI is to conduct research on the development of Ethiopian economy and disseminate the results.

PROJECTS

The Primary Goals and Objectives of EDRI are:

• To conduct and promote high quality & objective policy research,
• To disseminate the results of policy research,
• To build professional excellence and capacity in socio-economic policy analysis,
• To develop a policy research responsive to the needs of policy makers which is rooted in rigorous analysis,
• To create a research agenda that examines both short, medium and long term issues, and
• To serve as an effective forum for discussing development issues among key stakeholders.
